Why choose a washable panty liner?

A woman uses approximately 13,000 disposable panty liners in her lifetime. Can you imagine all the waste thrown away for such a short time spent wearing them?

That's why we'd like to tell you more about washable panty liners, also known as washable sanitary towels. We'll try to convince you to reduce the amount of waste you throw away every day.

No more uncomfortable, chafing-like comfort from disposable pads. Reusable pads are soft and comfortable to wear. Plus, they save money for your wallet and reduce waste for the planet.

The composition of the washable panty liner

The washable panty liner is made up of 3 layers:

Topper: The topper is the fabric part above the panty liner; the skin is in direct contact with this part. The topper is non-absorbent. Most commonly used fabrics: Cotton, flannel, velvet, polyester.

Central part, absorbent: The washable panty liner (or sanitary napkin) is made up of several layers of absorbent fabric which has the capacity to retain fluids. Most commonly used fabrics: Cotton, Fleece

The back: The back of the panty liner is made of waterproof fabric that will retain the fluids that have passed through the absorbent part. The back part also serves to hold the washable panty liner on the underwear with a system of snaps. Most commonly used fabrics: Cotton, Fleece, Nylon, Polyurethane

Maintenance advice

We recommend washing your washable panty liner before wearing it for the first time. Machine washing at 30°C will be sufficient.

Using a biological or homemade laundry detergent is recommended to avoid any irritating substances.

To wash your panty liner during your period: After use, close the panty liner to contain the fluid, keeping the waterproof part facing outwards and keep it until washing. Washing steps:

  • Hand pre-wash: After opening the panty liner, rinse it under room temperature water. Rub it by hand with soap (preferably organic or homemade). If stains are still present, soak it for at least 1 hour in room temperature water with baking soda. Then put the panty liner in the washing machine.
  • Machine cleaning: Machine wash your panty liner at 30°C or 40°C with biological detergent or homemade detergent.
  • Drying: Tumble drying is not recommended, we recommend letting it air dry.
