Recipe for a 100% olive oil soap
100% olive oil soap is one of the most popular solid soaps on the market. Indeed, olive oil is recognized as an excellent moisturizer for our skin. This is why 100% olive oil soap is a must-have for healthy skin and hair. Olive oil has properties that can calm skin inflammation, which is why it is highly valued for sensitive or irritated skin. A word of caution before you start making your 100% olive oil soap: it requires 1 month of drying time before you can use your soap!
Is there a recipe for 100% olive oil soap?
Yes! Here's what you'll need:
- 38g of caustic soda (this dosage is precise)
- 100 ml of water
- 300g olive oil
And that's it! Here's a recipe that makes you want to make it.
The utensils you will need:
- 2 large salad bowls
- silicone molds
- a scale accurate to the nearest gram
- a spoon for mixing
- protective equipment (gloves/goggles/apron)
Let's prepare the 100% olive oil soap recipe
First, dilute the lye in the water. Add the lye little by little to avoid any splashing, while stirring your concoction. Create a double boiler with ice cubes or fresh water to prevent your mixture from getting too hot.
To avoid any splashing, make sure you pour the soda into the water and not the other way around!!
Once your lye is dissolved in water, stir in the olive oil. Blend with an immersion blender to speed up the saponification process. You should get a thick, cloudy mixture; you should see a "trace" at the end of your bowl.
Pour everything into your molds before your mixture solidifies too much.
The part everyone loves: the patience game. Now wait a month to unmold your soaps!
