The loofah

The Luffa Plant

Luffa is a gourd of the squash variety. Luffa is spelled variously: loofa, luffa, loufah, or loufa. Luffa is the part that remains of the exotic squash after drying.

Loofah has been used as a natural sponge for many years in some Asian and African countries. It is used for household cleaning and skin care "peeling." Loofah is used raw, cut into sponge-shaped pieces.

  • Open your skin pores by moistening it with warm water.
  • Moisten your loofah as needed. The wetter you make it, the softer it will be.
  • Rub your solid soap or put your liquid soap on the sponge.
  • Apply to your skin by rubbing in circular motions from top to bottom of the body.
  • Rinse the entire body from bottom to top. We recommend using fresh water to improve blood circulation.
  • A little tip: if you have dry skin, you can apply natural vegetable oil to tone it up and make it shine.
  • Remember to rinse the loofah well and then spin it. The loofah is machine washable; you can clean it with your terry cloth household linen (gloves, towels, sponges, etc.)
  • Allow the loofah to air dry.

How to use loofah for household cleaning?

The loofah acts like a scratch-free sponge. It can be used on all surfaces because it doesn't scratch. You can use it with natural household cleaning products; simply soak or sprinkle it over the loofah.

The loofah can clean stainless steel, ceramic hobs, tiles, aluminium, etc. without leaving any scratches.

Recommended natural cleaning products: vinegar, baking soda, black soap and Marseille soap.

It can replace the sponge for washing dishes, cleaning tiles or even windows in your bathroom.

Above all, remember to air dry it thoroughly after each use! The more care you take of your loofah, the longer it will last.
